Welcome, baby Jacob!

This past week I got to do this cake for a very special family in our church.  They have been praying to adopt a child for some time now, and had always been told that they would never get a newborn because, of course, everyone wants the babies.  They were fine with that and had even set up a room in their home for an older child.

Well, about a month or so ago they got a call that there was a baby born and asking if they wanted to go through the interview process to possibly adopt this baby. Needless to say, God worked in a mighty way, and this family was able to bring home a precious newborn baby boy.

Because they had such short, short notice about this blessing they were not prepared for everything that is needed for a new baby.  Our church family wanted to bless them and give them a baby shower.  The mom was just told that she was invited to a women's fellowship get-together.  The look on her face when she walked in and realized what was really going on was truly amazing.

It was so great being able to love on this family.  It is one of the many reasons I love the Awakening Community Church.  When we see someone in need we do our best to take care of them.

Blessings to you, sweet baby Jacob.  God has big plans for you!

Welcome home, Jerry!!

These soldier cookies were such a pleasure to do.  I have been getting to know another young mom, Candy, at our church whose husband has been deployed for the past year.  This past week he came home from his deployment, and she asked if I could make soldier cookies for him to have when he got home.

I had never attempted a camo look on cookies before, but this was a lot of fun. And according to Candy, Jerry loved them. Yay!  That made me so happy.

Thank you, Jerry, for all that you've done to defend our country.  And thank you, Candy, for all the sacrifices you made as well.

Star Wars Cookies

Finally, the Star Wars cookies!

These were sent to my good mommy-friend Gisela for her oldest son's and husband's birthdays.  These were VERY challenging especially with the glaze icing I use. I can't seem to get as fine of details as I would sometimes like. But overall I love the glaze icing.

These were a lot of fun to do!

Coming soon..star wars cookies!

Soon I'll be posting some star wars cookies I just got done doing.  They are an order being sent to Philadelphia to my friend Gisela.  I want to wait for her to get them until I post pics. Gisela, thank you SO much for your order!  I think these were my most challenging cookies yet.  But what a great learning experience it was.  I'm realizing how difficult it is to do tiny details with the glaze icing.  I see other cookies and Im sure they use royal icing, but I just love how the glaze tastes and overall how it works so I'm sticking with it.  Gisela, I hope you are happy with them and your family loves them. :)

Pink and Princess

I recently did this sheet cake for a 5 year old's birthday.  When her aunt called to order it she said, "She wants 'pink and princess'!" I thought this turned out cute.  I love the Disco dust, in person it made it so sparkly and pretty.

2 Years of Prayer

2 years of prayer has brought my family to today.

2 years ago we found out during my ultrasound that our baby would be born with clubfoot.  Bilateral clubfoot, which meant that both of his precious little feet would be turned in completely.

This is what Oliver's feet looked like when he was born:

And this was my big boy today at his doctors appt:

After months of casts, braces, and waiting...we got the news today that we've been waiting for since we first heard about Oliver's conditon.

He is done with treatment.  He doesn't have to go back to the dr ever again.

PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!!!

As a thank you I made a cookie basket for Dr. Cummiskey and his nurses.  We love them so much.  It was a bittersweet good-bye today.

I made a BIG thank you heart cookie, some bear doctors and nurses.

Oliver is our living, WALKING miracle who restores my faith on a daily basis.

God, the glory is all yours!!!

Oh, BABIES!!!

I had a big order for a baby shower last week.  And it was SO fun to do!!  A girl I went to high school with got in touch with me and said that her sister was having triplets.  Yes, triplets.  3 babies.  OH, BABIES!

I love babies.  Love, love, love them.  So I was thrilled to do cookies and a cake for this shower.  You ready for LOTS of pictures? :)

First, the cake.  A half sheet hand-carved into a onesie.

I struggled to get a good picture of this.  But there are three little sets of feet on there :)  soooo sweet! (3 babies! I'm still caught up in that idea!)

lots of cupcake cookies.  These are some of my most ordered design!

I had 3 dozen onesie cookies to do, and I just love decorating onesies.  They are like an open canvas and especially when you can use blue AND pink (Did I mention she's having 2 boys and 1 girl?).

Striped onesies.  Sorry about the pictures.  I retreated to our bedroom to try to get some pics without Oliver wanting to get a cookie! (Its hard to explain to a 20-month-old why he cant have all the cookies he sees, even if he says "Pease?!")

These were some of my favorite to do.  They said "baby", "miracle", "sweet" and "cutie"

some zig zags and swirly lines

Love these polka dots.

I couldnt help it, I had to take a pic of all the cookies in the box :)

Did I mention she's having TRIPLETS?!? :-D

Yellow, White, and Purple Birthday Cake

What can I say, I didn't have any creative ideas for the title of this post :)  My friend ordered this cake for her grandmother's birthday.  I had some bad luck with this cake as far as leveling it (I have to buy an Agbay!) and it was hot in our apt and the icing just wasn't cooperating.  The great thing about friends, though, is that they love what you do for them regardless of all the inperfections I see!
This cake was an 8" round on bottom and 6" round on top decorated with buttercream and fondant roses on top.  This was my first time doing a fondant rose and I really like how they turned out!! I want to do more! :)

See what I mean? That awful Wilton leveler hates me.

But I love the roses! :)
