Happy Birthday Liam!

My nephew Liam will be 4 this Thursday! Its so hard to believe how big he is getting. He and Oliver look like they could be brothers. Everyone was commenting at the party how Oliver looks just like how Liam did at this age. Liam loves Thomas the Train so I made him a Thomas cake. I can't take credit for the creativity though, I got the idea from a cake on cakecentral.com. It was so fun to do! Its the first time I've done a cake for them so it was very special to me. :)

Sweet 16

Happy Birthday Lauren! This was made for my best friend's younger sister for her 16th birthday. 10" bottom tier white cake covered in fondant and decorated as zebra. Top tier was 6" chocolate cake covered in fondant. Gumpaste/fondant decorations and buttercream "fringe" border. So fun!

The Wedding Cake

This cake was so, so fun to make!! It was very stressful, though. I was amazed at how much cake it took to make such a big cake. Blessings to the newlyweds, Jenni and Justin. We love you guys!

Happy Holidays!

Its been a busy, busy month! I made many cakes this month with Christmas and of course Jenni and Justin's wedding cake. Jay's work also did a few different charity bake sales, and these are pictures of the three cakes I decorated for those. I'm so proud to say that together these 3 cakes raised over $200 for charity!

Mom's Get-Well Cake

This was an 8" round cake I made for my mom last month when she had knee surgery. It was a lemon cake torted with raspberry filling and iced in buttercream. This was the first time I'd attempted any scroll work and I really liked the way it turned out. I definitely want to do more cakes like this! As much fun as fondant is I really do enjoy buttercream also. My mom was thrilled with the cake so that was what really mattered.

Zebra Practice

This was a small, 6" round cake that I did as a practice run for a wedding cake I'll be doing in December! The actual wedding cake will be square, but this gave the bride an idea of what it would look like. Plus what fondant tastes like. :) It was a lot of fun and I cant wait to do the wedding cake!

Happy Halloween! (a couple weeks late)

This was a small cake (6" round) I made for Jay and Oliver for Halloween. It was only the second cake I had decorated with fondant and it was so fun! I used Bekels fondant and it was lovely to use. Very smooth and easy.

I look forward to making more holiday cakes! I enjoy the thought of Oliver associating cakes with good, fun events in his life as well as the simple "just because" occasions as well. :)
