One More Princess Picture

I received this picture in an email of some of the cookies I made for Maya...I still wish I had a picture of all of them, but at least you can see a few more that I did.  I absolutely love the Disco Dust, especially the gold on the magic wands.
Thanks again to Pam at Cookie Crazy for the encouragement to try the disco dust.  She is wonderful!

Happy 2nd Birthday Maya Rose!!

Well, I found one picture of some of Maya's cookies that I took on my phone.  It doesn't show the magic wand cookies, but those didn't turn out as well as I had wanted anyway, so thats ok.  I think they'll be in the pictures Joy took.

(Disco Dust added such a beautiful shimmer!)

Happy Birthday Maya Rose!! You are so loved!!

Happy (early) Birthday Vicky!!!

I'm still on my cookie kick...I love it!! I am especially enjoying it now that I have an icing that works so well on cookies.  I'll always love the taste of sugar cookies and buttercream icing, but this new icing looks much prettier.

My niece Maya turned 2 today.  That's so hard to believe!  When she was born I was only about 10 weeks pregnant with Oliver and felt so sick on my way to see her.  Time has flown by!  I made cookies for her (the weather was iffy so we decided it was best they order a cake from a local bakery in case I couldnt make it down there...they live about 3 hrs away.) but...can you believe this...I forgot to take a picture!!!!! I'm so mad!!! But I'm pretty sure Joy took one, I just emailed Chris to find out.  As soon as I get one, I'll post it.

But I got to see my cousin Vicky at the party.  I made her a fun set of cookies as an early birthday gift...The icing on her was too thick, so they didnt turn out as well as I had hoped, but she loved them :)
high heels...so fun :)

purses... :)

gift tag with my new favorite thing...DISCO DUST!!! sooo pretty!

some of my favorites

All wrapped up.  I even found pink ribbon with black high heels that I used for the gift tag cookie.

All packaged up! I made to many to fit in the little tin that I found, but I loved the tin so much I used it anyway! The rest were just wrapped up in tissue paper.

Happy Birthday Vic!!! Love you!!

PB & C

Peanut butter and chocolate...two of Jay's favorite things!!  These cookies aren't "pretty" necessarily, but I had to add them anyway.  I told Jay he had his pick of a cake, decorated sugar cookies, or another kind of cookie (whatever he wanted).  He chose these peanut butter blossom cookies.  I have to admit, though, I've eaten my fair share of them!  I can pass on cake, and usually do.  But I do enjoy cookies.

So see, my baking isn't limited to just making things look pretty :)

(And I know, my photography leaves much to be desired.  But if you saw how tiny my kitchen is, and my apt for that matter, add in an 18 month old tornado..i mean, son :)...you would understand!!)

David's Birthday Cake!

I'm still catching up on cakes I've done in the past.  This cake was made for sweet David, our best friends' son.  You could say that David really pushed my baby fever over the edge...there are almost exactly 9 1/2 mos between David and Oliver!! :)

I had so much fun doing this.  It was still one of my first cakes.  When I used my Pooh shaped pan for Oliver's birthday, all the details imprinted onto the cake when I flipped it out.  When I flipped out this cake, NONE of the details came out!! So it was all free-handed.  I was nervous about how it would look but it turned out well and he loved it, so that was all that mattered! I love the way the checkered flag sides turned out.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

My FIL asked me to make a chocolate cake for him and he always lets me do whatever as far as decorating them.  I love it because it gives me a chance to try new things and he always appreciates it.  I love having the chance to add to my "portfolio."

I've never attempted a lace type of design before.  First of all, I should get something to help mark garland if I'm gonna keep doing it!  I just eyeballed the spacing so they arent all even.  But it was a lot of fun.

Catch-up

Wow, my third post for the day!  I'm attempting to make this blog a little more personable...I don't have a lot of time to bake/decorate so I won't be able to post often, but when I do get the time to decorate, I want to post more. :)

This cake was made for new years eve for Jay's gran's birthday. (His dad, my father-in-law, ordered it for his mom, hence it saying "Happy Birthday Mom".) It was an 8" round chocolate cake with IndyDebi's buttercream.  I wrote a Bible verse on the side from the book of Proverbs: "Her children will rise up and call her blessed."  I love that verse.  Actually, I love all of Proverbs.  Oliver (my almost 18-month-old) and I read a chapter from Proverbs in the morning during our breakfast.

Gran loved the cake and that made me so happy :)))

Leftovers...

Jay loves my white cake, so I decided to make him one and use leftover icing I had in the fridge. I really had no vision for this cake other than the big swirl on the top.  About halfway through Oliver decided he needed to help so it was quickly finished on the side.  Oh well, it was fun and Jay loved it!

Cookies!

This was my first attempt at decorating sugar cookies using this icing recipe.  It was so much fun!  Thanks so much to Pam at Cookie Crazie for her inspiration.  These cookies look sad compared to hers, but for the first time doing it I was pretty happy with them!  I'd love to start doing more cookie decorating.  I plan on making some cookie boquets in the future for some special occasions, hopefully it'll get my cookies "out there" for people to see and want.  I loved doing the little ones, I thought the X and O cookies turned out super cute.  Those were inspired by The Decorated Cookie
